The weekend is over. The festivities are winding down, and our time in the press is fading away – and yet the memory of our 30th anniversary event will be with us for some time. On behalf of my family I would like to thank every person who came to the Bagelshop on our 30th anniversary weekend. A special thank you goes to the Honourable Mayor Jim Watson, Kitchissipi Ward City Counselor Katherine Hobbs, MPP Yasir Naqvi, and MP Royal Galipeau for attending our event!
The outpouring of support, of gratitude, and the love for our bagels and business has been overwhelming to say the least. On Saturday we estimate that 2000 people came through our doors! It was the first visit for some, while for others it was part of their weekly Saturday ritual (much more hectic than usual I can assure you!). And many others came because they remembered when the Bagelshop first opened its doors. So many remembered being willing and eager to try out those very first bagels as we were learning the skills we needed to produce them. They remember when we introduced the bagels and gave them out for free, and they also remember when we opened our doors for business 30 years ago. Vince is, by nature, a quiet man whose primary focus these past 30 years has been the day to day running of the Bagelshop. The anniversary celebrations and personal testimonies of so many customers has surprised and delighted him. He honestly couldn’t believe that we have had such a positive impact on so many lives. We are all deeply gratified to know this.
I also need to thank our wonderful team of staff and volunteers who did an excellent job coping with such a high volume of customers and special guests! Everyone was kind, gracious, hard-working, and tried to make the event run as smoothly as possible. Even though customers had to wait for bagels, they were greeted by special prizes and draws, delicious food samples, a friendly smile and a laugh or two. We are so lucky that the Bagelshop is run by such a excellent team!
The weekend’s success was topped off by great prizes and specials that were provided by our generous suppliers and distributors. We gave away over 25 different prizes which ranged from Dufflet Cakes and Solo Fruit Sorbet, to a beautiful $85 gift basket from Degas chocolates, to many Bagelshop Gift Bags that were jam-packed with delicious products.
Thank you to the following businesses who contributed in the most generous way to making our special day a roaring success: – Degas Chocolates, Dufflet Cakes, Seed to Sausage, Michael’s Dolce, Siren’s Bakery, Cafe de Joel, Mrs. McGarrigle’s Mustards, Heavenly Honey, and Rootham’s.
And thank you also to the following suppliers who also donated items for our specials and prizes! – Agropur, Atlas Foods, Coca-Cola, Husky, Rudolf, Tanis, Tribecca, Qualifirst, Elco, Tree of Life, Sofina, National Importers
Wow! What a list! We are humbled by the generosity of our suppliers, the work ethic of our staff, and of course the ongoing patronage of our loyal customers. Thank you for loving our store. Here’s to another 30 years!
Oh, and without further ado, I would like to announce the winner of our Bagelstory contest – determined by a random drawing. Tess Walter is the winner of a FREE 3 month supply of Bagels! Congratulations Tess!
